Actually I did do up an really long blog awhile back but just as I was going to post it, the power went out and there went my blog!
We have been busy around here. Garth is busy back in the oilfield. He had about 6 weeks off at spring break-up this year. Nice break. Darrian, our grandson and his mom - Alyson and Dad - William came for a visit and spent Easter with us. We all had a great time. Us girls, Alyson, Sarah and myself spent a day in Minot shopping and the guys spent the day male bonding with Darrian, though Garth and William did get a day in at the Casino. Neither came home with bounties of riches but they had fun. Darrian is a very busy 2 1/2 year old. He talks like there is no tomorrow, loves Thomas the Train and can put puzzles together faster then the average adult. He is so much like Sarah in so many ways, that it is like watching her grow up all over again. Grand children are truly a gift from God. They are your reward for sticking out through all those crazy teenage years LOL!
Garth is planning on taking a week off each month so he can be at home more. Tired of being away so much.
It is a change of routine having him here.....I have sort of become accustomed to my quiet life....especially not having to fight anyone for the remote control! Garth spent 4 days at home this past week because it was to wet to move the rig. It was nice. After several trips to the Gardening stores, Garth has filled our yard and deck with many beautiful trees and flowers. It will be a task trying to keep up to them all.
I know when Garth retires we are going to have the nicest yard around because he has a very green thumb.
I have been busy working at the Casino. I accepted a full time position as a Cashier and work as an Acting supervisor filling in when the full times need days off, annual leave etc. It keeps me busy but I enjoy my job very much and work with alot of very nice people.
Sarah is still working at the Casino in the Drop department and also helps out her Dad at the rig on occassion.
Sarah had a nasty fall on the ice this winter and is still struggling with a very sore side. Getting a Doctors appointment is a real challenge these days....took her 7 weeks to get in to see her doctor only to be told that she will have to wait until September for the test that she requires so they can see what is wrong in there.
Our health system has went done the drain, not enough doctors or equipement available so a person can get quality care in a reasonable amount of time. So we wait.
We still have Bailey though she has slown down some this past winter. That dog can sleep 18 hours a day if you let her! She is 8 years old so I guess that is getting up there for her.
Our extended family will be growing again this year with Michael and Kim, also Peter and Chelsey expecting.
Very exciting. Also William and Alyson have been put back on the list for the chance to adopt another child, so god-willing maybe a new bundle of joy may be headed their way too!
I feel so very blessed to be surrounded by family and friends. Life is good!
Will blog again very soon......promise!
Marilyn

Growls from White Bear

Blessed be the Throne
You know we take alot of the things we have in life for granted, like water and bathrooms for instance. I had a few challenging days here this past week, when something as mudane as flushing a toilet became a three day challenge on why the darn thing just wouldnt flush. I tried every thing....and the water and other various additions just would not go down. So after swallowing my pride and embarassement, I finally had to call a neighbour for assistance. To make a long story short it turned out the sewer was frozen. Thank goodness for neighbours...they got it going for me. Now a flushing toilet is cause for celebration!! Never will I take the "throne" for granted again!! oh and just for information you never thought you would need to know....the insides of sewer lines are yucky!!!

Growls from White Bear

From a Quiet Place
Every once in a while, I just need to get still. The fast pace of this world we live in sometimes gets to be just like a gerbil on a wheel, just going around and around. The constant spinning wears me out, physically and emotionally. Time for a break from the madness which we live in. So three days off from work became a time to relax, unwind and reflect. A time to spend by oneself and to enjoy the solitude of one. Instead of running to meet friends, I took time to do somethings by myself, going to town to do errands, having a milkshake for the first time in years. Driving down the highway and trying to suck the too thick shake up the straw until I had "guppy" face and laughing out loud at the face reflected in the car's mirror. Having some very needed afternoon snoozes, curled up on the couch while Bailey (the dog) snored loudly from her couch! Making myself a real supper complete with dessert and enjoying every bite! Wearing pj's all day long. Singing loudly to tunes like I was some unknown talent about to be discovered! Dancing with the dog! She's very good! And most of all realizing how lucky I am to have this life, this home, this family and this love. I am truely blessed!

Growls from White Bear

Hibernating
I wonder why we are not more like the animals and plants of this world? They know that winter is a time to slow down, rest and wait for the bursting forth of spring. We on the other hand try to conquer winter, by fighting our way through the snow, cold, wind and ice just to go, go, go. Maybe we should slow down and get quiet, look around and see the winter season for what it is, a time for reflection, a time to be alone by one self but not lonely, a time to recharge so we can to burst forward when spring presents itself with all the beauty the world has to offer. Just maybe if we would just join in the natural passage of the season we could see winter for what it is, a time for renewel.

Growls from White Bear

Growls from White Bear
Okay it is very early in the Morning and all my brain cells are not firing in the correct order....so to see my latest blog....please go to comments under the last one....Sorry will get it right next time!

Growls from White Bear

Growls from White Bear
Well here it is the last day of 2005. The Christmas Holidays are almost over. I look around the house and see the remains of the past week of festivites...bits of paper and tissues from the brightly wrapped gifts that once sat under the now bare tree, half empty candy dishes where holiday company munched from and a fridge full of leftovers that signals once again more food was prepared and cooked then we could ever consume. But all in all in was a great Christmas....I was thrilled to have Sarah and Garth under the same roof with me again....I really missed them this past month while I was preparing for the holidays. But as always all good things must come to a end and back off to work we all go. Just Bailey and I again....the house is quiet, messy and unorganized as I drag my feet to put away the last vestige of the holidays. The next couple of days will entail taking down the tree and storing away all the ornaments and memories for another year.
As I look forward to 2006 I resolve that it will be a year of family....spending time with those near and dear to me....in person, by mail or email or on the phone. So to you and yours I wish you all the Best in 2006!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Growls from White Bear

Well here it is the middle of the night and I just nicely got home from work. I actually enjoy my job, the drive back and forth and the wind, snow and ice I could do without!
Christmas is fast approaching and it wont be long until it is just a memory. I finally got the tree up. The wrapping is almost complete. Have parcels and cards to get ready and mail and some baking to do but will be done really soon.
My friend Mary and I had a experience with black ice the other night on the way home from Regina. I never thought myself to be a screamer, but I guess I am. Sliding all over the highway and into the ditch is not my idea of adventure. Guess I would make a poor contestant for Fear Factor. Anyhow is was a good thing that Mary was the driver, much calmer behind the wheel then I would have been, though I have to admit that it has been fun in a sick sort of way teasing her about the whole experience. Thanks Mary, hell of a birthday present!!! Just kidding, ya know I love ya!!!
Well off to bed, tons of stuff to do tomorrow. I keep wondering why...for someone who would be quite content to have summer all year round has never left the crazy weather patterns of the prairies....oh yeah...love...who figured....a man is to blame everytime.
Well better go catch 40 winks before its time to get back at it again....thank goodness for coffee!!!

Growls from White Bear

Well I headed off to Estevan yesterday to do some errands and I finally got a start at Christmas shopping, two gifts down and dozen more to go...but it is a start.....I sometimes wonder just how necessary this all is.....just my procastinating self not wanting to get at it and get it done. Once I get in the shopping mood I am off like a rocket jet tracking down that elusive just have to have gift. I really do enjoy the holiday season....I just cant believe it is winter again...where did the year go. Remember when you were little and the long lazy hot days of summer...do we not have them anymore??
While I was shopping I came across a beautiful but not necessary winter coat that I would love to have....went even as far as putting it in the cart....but practicality won out and back on the rack it went...but man I wanted that coat!!!
Its snowing today and I am having a challenge appreciating the wonder of mother nature...I think the older I get...the more I dislike the snow, ice and cold...guess thats why most people retired to warmer climates....florida is not for me though....to many wicked storms and devestation can happen down there...so I guess my flat Saskatchewan, snow or no snow is just fine for me.

Growls from White Bear

Nov 7th
Okay I just looked at the calendar and realized that Christmas is only 50 days away and I havent done a thing yet to prepare for it. Just four more paydays and the big day arrives. I am usually done shopping by this time....I better get my hiny in gear. So much to do, cards, gifts and baking. yikes...Where did the year go....
But all in all, I am sure that come christmas morning the gifts will all be there under the tree and what took 50 days to buy, assemble, and wrap will be open in 10 minutes. So a shopping trip is a gotta do soon!

Growls from White Bear

Okay, I will admit that this is a very new experience for me....but I am climbing on the blogging wagon.
